Direct Hire – Accounts Payable Supervisor – Buffalo, NY

Join this team as a dynamic Accounts Payable Supervisor, where you'll spearhead the processing of accounts payable for both Property Management and Utilities. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring meticulous coding, seamless data entry, and efficient processing. You'll also have the exciting opportunity to mentor and lead a team of AP Analysts.

Key Relationships:

  • You'll report directly to the Manager of Accounts Payable for Property Management, fostering collaborative relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Company property management personnel for seamless invoice coordination.
  • Executive management and the leasing team for strategic alignment.
  • Billing department personnel for streamlined tenant and property billing processes, including chargebacks.
  • Valued vendors for effective partnership and negotiation.

As their Accounts Payable Leader, you'll lead by example in:

  • Thoroughly reviewing invoice coding to guarantee accuracy before processing payments, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and capital improvement regulations.
  • Strategically retrieving and reviewing leases to validate common area maintenance (CAM) and non-CAM charges, enabling informed decisions on tenant chargebacks.
  • Engaging in proactive discussions with the head of AP Property Management and property managers to assess costs related to specific items, ensuring precision and securing necessary approvals.
  • Providing invaluable support to the Property Management Group by analyzing pricing, costs, budgets, expenditures, and future projections.
  • Nurturing the growth and development of department staff through comprehensive training and regular performance evaluations, while also overseeing daily tasks with efficiency and expertise.
  • Actively evaluating current procedures and enhancing efficiency through the implementation of innovative processes.
  • Playing a key role in pursuing rebates and refunds from vendors or utility providers, and skillfully managing utility commodity contracts as needed.

To excel in this role, you'll ideally possess:

 

  • A minimum of five years' experience in all facets of accounts payable, showcasing your expertise and proficiency.
  • Strong mathematical acumen and advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Familiarity with a workflow system, with experience in Nexus being advantageous.
  • A preferred two-year accounting/business degree, demonstrating your commitment to excellence in financial management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with executive management.
  • Prior experience in training and managing other accounts payable personnel, showcasing your leadership abilities.
  • A solid understanding of property management practices, facilitating seamless integration into the role.
  • Expertise in multi-state sales tax rates and the accrual of sales tax, along with a deep understanding of capital improvement qualifications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and comprehending lease language, ensuring precision in financial decision-making.

Compensation:

$70,000 to $100,000 – DOE
