Direct Hire – Director of Finance – Buffalo, NY
Are you a detail-oriented financial professional with a passion for improving financial reporting processes? Are you experienced in internal controls and possess exceptional writing skills? We are seeking a dedicated Director of Finance for one of our areas faster growing manufacturers. As the Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our financial reporting practices, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations, and implementing effective internal controls. SALARY $155K+ DOE
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the preparation of 10Q and 10K reports, utilizing our existing SEC reporting program while enhancing the quality and professionalism of the commentary.
- Improve the written commentary to provide valuable insights and tell the story behind the financial figures, empowering executive leadership to make informed business decisions.
- Take charge of internal controls and financial reporting (ICFR), by testing the effectiveness of existing controls and identifying areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement plans to mitigate risk vulnerability by conducting Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) activities and identifying material weaknesses in the business.
- Forecast and analyze the entire profit and loss (P/L) statement, from revenue to net income and everything in between, to provide accurate financial projections.
- Oversee the development and growth of a business analyst, providing guidance and mentorship to nurture their talent and skills.
- Utilize your expertise in manufacturing and knowledge of ERP systems to ensure accurate reporting and understanding of manufacturing flow, including Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Routing.
Desired Skills:
- CPA qualification is preferred.
- Solid experience in the manufacturing industry is a must.
- An MBA degree is preferred.
- Public accounting experience, particularly in auditing large manufacturing firms, would be advantageous.
- Exceptional writing skills to communicate financial insights effectively.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including BOMs and Routing.
- Previous experience as a controller and readiness for career advancement is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Pie Chart (2023 into 2024):
- 50% Internal control testing and financial reporting.
- 25% SEC reporting (10K and 10Q).
- 25% Building a proper forecasting model.
