Job Title: Field Service Technician

Location: WNY

Our client who specializes in the installation, commissioning, and repair of heavy machinery for a wide range of industries is looking for a Field Service Technician to join their team. The Field Service Technician will be responsible for performing installation, commissioning, and repair work at customer sites. They will troubleshoot equipment issues, diagnose problems, and ensure that all machinery operates at optimal performance levels. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose and repair equipment either in our own shop or by traveling to customer locations.
  • Install and commission new equipment at customer sites, ensuring that performance standards are met or exceeded.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction and address any concerns or issues promptly.
  • Test and calibrate equipment to ensure it meets minimum performance standards.
  • Provide telephone, email, and text support to customers for troubleshooting or training purposes.
  • Perform equipment assembly and testing in the shop to support manufacturing operations.
  • Supervise, instruct, and assign work to shop employees assisting with field work.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and provide feedback to the company.
  • Prepare and distribute required reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Advanced vocational degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the industrial equipment industry.
  • Experience traveling to perform service or installations preferred.

Salary $55k-$75k DOE

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, and electrical schematics.
  • Basic computer skills for email, word processing, and internet use.
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, including PC OS/administration and network installation/repair.
  • Experience using tools such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, and/or cut off saw.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude, preferably with heavy machine building experience.
  • Advanced hydraulic and/or electrical installation and/or repair experience preferred.
  • Basic rigging experience; advanced experience with large outdoor lifts preferred.
  • Clean safety record with certifications and advanced training preferred.
  • Ability to travel frequently (>50%), sometimes with short notice, and potentially for long durations.
  • Basic working knowledge of PLCs; advanced experience and programming abilities preferred.
