Software Developer – Remote – Full Time

Our client, an industry leader in wholesale insurance, is looking for a software developer to join our Digital & Technical Solutions team. We are a group of curious and friendly people with a passion for leveraging modern technology in the insurance space. We are changing the insurance industry by increasing efficiency in every way possible for tens of thousands of clients.

This role is 100% remote.

What you'll do.

You will join a self-organizing, highly collaborative, agile team tasked with expanding a best-in-class InsurTech solution that allows our clients to get quotes and issue policies in just a few minutes. We provide our clients with automatic document creation, electronic signing, and efficient data collection.

You will be participating in code reviews, pair programming, retrospectives, and cross-team, developer-driven working groups which promote continuous improvement, learning, and knowledge transfer. You will be practicing test driven development and true continuous integration in tight feedback loops using technologies like Typescript, React, NodeJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Google Cloud Platform.

  • Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern technology, such as serverless and event stream processing, and industry best practices such as branch by abstraction, safe testing in production, and continuous delivery.
  • Own solutions from technical design to deployment by working closely with your team. Integrate feedback from observability tools into your team’s process to create more robust and stable solutions while also delivering software in small batches more quickly.
  • Able to understand patterns of distributed software systems and effectively debug interactions between systems written in different languages and frameworks.
  • Actively seek ways to improve software, processes, and interactions within your team, between other teams, and with business stakeholders.
  • Make effective technical decisions by having a firm grasp of "bigger picture” strategy, business requirements, and vision. You will be actively involved in discussions outside the source code.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in Object Oriented programming languages and tools (required)
  • Experience working on large-scale software projects within an agile environment
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills

Education & Certifications

B.S. in Computer Science or a related field (preferred)

A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered
